History & Mission
The
journey through later life can involve some changes and challenges.
Understanding issues related to aging can help empower older adults and
their families as they try to adapt to these changes. The Center
on Aging at Midwestern University was established to serve as a resource
to provide education on aging to older adults and their families.
The mission of the Center
on Aging is to provide useful education to older adults, their
families, and residents of Illinois about the interdisciplinary
aspects of aging.
The Center on Aging aims
to provide education directly to the community residents through both
on-campus events and community outreach activities. The Center
on Aging also provides printed information on geriatric topics and
maintains a web site for electronic access to resources. In
addition, the Center on Aging networks with other agencies devoted to
geriatric care. Through community education, we strive to
promote and enhance geriatric care in Illinois.
We look forward to an
exciting and active future in serving the geriatric educational needs
in the Illinois community.
